Product Overview

The Nimbus Rochester Slim Fit is a modern interpretation of the quintessential Oxford shirt, designed for those who require a more tailored silhouette without sacrificing traditional craftsmanship. This garment is a fitted version of the highly successful Rochester line, maintaining the classic virtues of the Ivy League aesthetic while providing a closer fit to the body. Featuring a refined button-down collar and a gently curved hem, it offers a sophisticated appearance that transitions effortlessly from the boardroom to high-end hospitality environments.

Key Features
  • Shaped Pleats and Slim Fit: These design elements ensure the shirt contours to the body, providing a sharp, contemporary profile that remains comfortable throughout the working day.
  • Mother-of-Pearl Style Buttons: These provide a high-end, tonal finish that complements the classic Oxford weave and enhances the shirt's overall aesthetic.
  • Third Collar Button: Located at the centre-back of the collar, this traditional detail ensures your collar remains perfectly positioned, maintaining a neat appearance even when worn without a tie.
  • Locker Loop and Functional Cuffs: Traditional functional details that offer practical utility while nodding to the shirt's heritage origins.

Design & Performance

The performance of this shirt lies in its premium fabric construction. It is crafted from 100% combed and mercerised cotton. The combing process removes shorter fibres and impurities, resulting in a smoother, stronger yarn. Mercerisation further enhances the fabric by increasing its lustre, improving dye uptake, and ensuring the shirt maintains its shape over time. The Oxford weave provides a substantial, durable texture that is both breathable and hard-wearing.

To ensure immediate comfort, the garment has been pre-washed. This process softens the cotton and reduces the likelihood of significant shrinkage after the first home wash, ensuring the slim fit remains consistent throughout the garment's lifespan. The inclusion of toned contrast details provides a subtle point of interest that distinguishes this shirt from standard corporate wear.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

The high-quality Oxford weave of the Rochester Slim Fit provides an excellent canvas for custom branding. For a distinguished and professional appearance, we recommend embroidery. The substantial nature of the mercerised cotton supports high-stitch-count logos on the chest or collar with ease, providing a durable and premium finish.

For businesses requiring larger, more vibrant branding—perhaps for event staff or specific promotional roles—this shirt also handles print exceptionally well. Whether you choose a subtle embroidered monogram or a bold printed logo, our in-house team in Telford, drawing on expertise dating back to 1976, will ensure your branding is executed with precision.

Use Cases

This shirt is specifically engineered for professional environments where a sharp, fitted appearance is paramount. It is an ideal choice for front-of-house hospitality staff, corporate office teams, or management personnel who require a uniform that reflects a premium brand identity. Given its slim-fit nature, it is particularly suited to those who prefer a modern, less bulky garment under a tailored jacket or blazer.

Practical Advice

The Rochester Slim Fit is designed to be worn closer to the body than a standard-cut shirt. When selecting your size, we recommend consulting our size guide, which covers S through to 4XL. If you are between sizes or prefer a slightly more relaxed feel while maintaining the slim aesthetic, you may wish to size up. This shirt layers exceptionally well under medium-weight knitwear or a structured blazer without creating unnecessary bulk.

Caring for your product

To maintain the superior finish and mercerised lustre of your Oxford shirt, it is essential to follow the care instructions provided on the internal label. Proper care ensures that the fabric retains its strength and that your custom embroidery or print remains in peak condition.

Avoid the use of harsh bleaching agents, as these can degrade the cotton fibres and dull the mother-of-pearl style buttons. When drying, we recommend air-drying where possible; excessive heat from tumble drying can lead to unnecessary wear on the seams and may affect the integrity of the slim-fit silhouette. Ironing while slightly damp will help you achieve the crisp, professional finish expected of a premium Oxford shirt.
