Product Overview
The Fruit of the Loom Kids Valueweight T-shirt is a fundamental staple in junior workwear and promotional apparel. Designed with a versatile full-cut style, this garment provides a reliable canvas for school uniforms, sports clubs, and event merchandising. Constructed primarily from high-quality cotton, it offers a balance of comfort and structural integrity that withstands the energetic demands of childhood wear while maintaining its professional appearance.
Key Features
- Cotton and Lycra Ribbed Crew Neck: The addition of Lycra to the collar ensures the neckline retains its shape and elasticity over time, preventing the sagging often seen in inferior alternatives.
- Self-Fabric Back Neck Tape: By covering the raw seam at the back of the neck, this feature significantly enhances wearer comfort and reduces the risk of skin irritation during long days.
- Fine Knit Gauge: The tighter weave provides an exceptionally smooth surface, which is the technical foundation required for high-definition customisation.
- Twin Needle Stitching: Reinforced stitching on the neck, sleeves, and hem provides additional strength at high-stress points, ensuring the garment remains intact despite frequent washing and activity.
Design & Performance
At its core, this T-shirt is engineered for performance in a variety of environments. The fabric is a midweight cotton—specifically 100% cotton for most colours, with a slight polyester blend in the Heather Grey variant to achieve its textured finish. This composition ensures the garment is breathable and soft against the skin, making it suitable for year-round wear.
The 'Valueweight' designation refers to its dependable density; it is substantial enough to feel high-quality without being overly heavy or restrictive. The fine knit gauge is not just a comfort feature; it is a technical specification that allows for cleaner, sharper lines when applying complex logos or graphics.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
This garment is perfectly suited for both print and embroidery, and choosing the right method depends on your specific branding goals. Because of the fine knit gauge, this T-shirt is an excellent candidate for screen printing or heat transfer, allowing large, bold designs to sit smoothly on the fabric without the texture of the knit breaking up the image.
For a more traditional and prestigious finish, embroidery is recommended for chest-sized school crests or club logos. Our in-house production team, based in Telford since 1976, utilises high-precision machinery to ensure that every stitch is placed with accuracy, providing a durable and professional result that reflects the quality of your organisation.
Use Cases
The Kids Valueweight T-shirt is widely utilised across the education sector for physical education kits and school trips. It is also a primary choice for junior sports teams, community youth groups, and tourism-related merchandising. Its extensive colour range makes it easy to align with existing brand identities or school colours.

Practical Advice
When selecting sizes, please note the range extends from 1/2 years up to 14/15 years. This wide range allows for consistency across different age groups within a single organisation. For a more layered look during colder months, this T-shirt fits comfortably under standard school jumpers or midweight sweatshirts without bulkiness.
Caring for your product
To maintain the structural integrity of the cotton and ensure your branding remains vibrant, we recommend a machine wash at 40°C. Washing at this temperature effectively removes everyday stains without causing premature degradation of the fabric fibres.
Avoid the use of bleach, as harsh chemical agents will strip the dye from the fabric and can weaken the cotton fibres, leading to holes. When drying, use a low-heat tumble dry setting. High heat can cause the cotton to shrink and may damage printed designs by making them brittle.
For ironing, use a two-dot setting (medium heat). If the garment is printed, always iron on the reverse side to avoid melting the print. Finally, do not dry clean this item, as the chemicals used in the process are not compatible with the standard inks and threads used in garment customisation.
