Product Overview

The Harriet Straight Skirt from Brook Taverner is a sophisticated addition to any professional wardrobe, offering a clean, streamlined silhouette that is as functional as it is formal. Part of the renowned Rapport Collection, this skirt is engineered for the modern professional who requires a balance of style and resilience throughout a demanding working day. Its straight cut provides a timeless look that integrates seamlessly with existing corporate uniforms, while the subtle design details ensure it stands apart from standard office attire.

Key Features
  • Centre Vent: Located at the rear, this vent allows for a full range of movement and prevents the fabric from straining when walking or sitting, ensuring the garment retains its shape over time.
  • Topstitch Detailing: This high-quality finishing technique provides a refined aesthetic and reinforces the seams, ensuring the skirt remains robust through frequent wear.
  • Concealed Back Zip: The hidden zip maintains a smooth and uninterrupted profile, contributing to a sleek and professional appearance.
  • Recycled Fabric Blend: Incorporating recycled polyester, this garment supports corporate sustainability goals without compromising on the fabric's longevity or finish.

Design & Performance

The fabric composition of the Harriet Straight Skirt is a testament to thoughtful garment engineering. By blending 67% recycled polyester with 28% viscose and 5% LYCRA® Elastane, Brook Taverner has created a skirt that is substantial enough to hold its shape while remaining flexible. The viscose provides a soft, breathable feel against the skin, while the inclusion of LYCRA ensures the fabric moves with the wearer, recovering its original form instantly to prevent bagging at the seat.

This medium-weight fabric is particularly well-suited for indoor office environments and hospitality settings where a crisp appearance must be maintained from the start of a shift until the end. The 'Denim' colourway offers a contemporary alternative to traditional navy or black, providing a versatile base for various corporate colour palettes.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

At MyWorkwear, we understand that your uniform is a reflection of your brand. The Harriet Straight Skirt is well-suited for subtle customisation. Embroidery is the preferred choice for this type of formal garment, as it provides a sophisticated, high-end finish for company logos or staff names, typically placed near the waistband for a discreet look.

For organisations looking for high-impact branding, print options are also available. Regardless of the method chosen, our expert in-house team in Telford—who have been perfecting their craft since 1976—ensures that every logo is applied with precision, maintaining the professional integrity of the Brook Taverner design.

Use Cases

The Harriet Straight Skirt is an ideal choice for front-of-house staff, corporate receptionists, and management teams. Its combination of comfort and formal styling makes it particularly effective for professionals in the legal, financial, and hospitality sectors who require a uniform that can withstand long hours while maintaining a sharp appearance.

Practical Advice

The inclusion of LYCRA means this skirt has a slight stretch, offering a more forgiving fit than traditional 100% polyester garments. When layering, this skirt pairs exceptionally well with the Margot Jacket from the same Rapport Collection to create a cohesive and professional suit. We recommend checking your measurements against our sizing guide to ensure the best fit for the straight-cut silhouette.

Caring for your product

To maintain the structural integrity and appearance of the Harriet Straight Skirt, it is essential to follow the care instructions provided. This garment is machine washable, which is ideal for the busy professional. We recommend using a gentle cycle at a moderate temperature to ensure the LYCRA fibres do not lose their elasticity over time.

Avoid the use of harsh bleaching agents, as these can break down the viscose and polyester fibres, leading to premature wear and fading of the denim hue. When drying, it is best to hang the skirt immediately after the wash cycle to minimise creasing and reduce the need for heavy ironing. If ironing is required, use a low heat setting to prevent any heat damage to the synthetic fibres.
