Product Overview
The Yoko Hi-vis zip hoodie (HVK07) represents a sophisticated evolution in safety apparel, blending the comfort of a modern leisure garment with the stringent requirements of professional high-visibility standards. Designed for the worker who needs more substantial protection than a standard waistcoat, this zip-up hoodie provides thermal insulation and water-repellent properties. It is an essential item for maintaining visibility in high-risk environments while ensuring the wearer remains comfortable throughout the working day.
Key Features
- Certified to EN ISO 20471 Class 3, ensuring the highest level of visibility for maximum safety in complex working environments.
- The Orange and Orange/Navy colourways are RIS-3279-TOM certified, meeting the specific safety requirements for the UK railway industry.
- Fabricated from a water-repellent, anti-pill single jersey knitted polyester, which helps to keep the wearer dry in light rain and prevents the fabric from bobbling after frequent use.
- Features two 5cm wide reflective tapes around the body and arms, with additional bands over the shoulders to guarantee visibility from all angles.
- Includes a drop hood with drawcord adjustment and two dedicated handwarmer pockets for improved functionality in cold or windy conditions.
Design & Performance
The construction of this hoodie focuses on long-term durability and wearer comfort. The fabric is a medium-weight polyester that offers a soft-feel finish, avoiding the scratchy texture often associated with safety gear. To ensure the garment survives the rigours of a manual work environment, it features twin needle stitching throughout. This reinforcement provides stronger seams that are less likely to fail under stress.
The design includes a taped back neck, which serves to prevent irritation during repetitive movements. The full-length front zip allows for easy removal and layering, while the regular fit ensures the garment stays true to size without restricting movement. The anti-pill finish is particularly important for maintaining a professional appearance, as it keeps the hoodie looking newer for longer, even after repeated industrial laundering.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
This Yoko hoodie is perfectly suited for both print and embroidery, allowing you to align your safety gear with your corporate branding. For a professional and permanent finish, we recommend embroidery for chest logos or staff names. The stable, medium-weight knit provides an excellent base for high-density stitching without puckering.
For those requiring larger, high-impact branding on the back, heat-applied print is a superior choice. Our Telford-based expert team, established in 1976, handles all customisation in-house. We ensure that any branding is placed strategically so as not to obscure the reflective tapes or compromise the Class 3 safety certification of the garment.
Use Cases
Due to its Class 3 rating, this hoodie is appropriate for high-speed road maintenance, construction sites near traffic, and large distribution centres. The specific railway-certified orange versions are mandatory for trackside workers in the UK. It is also an ideal choice for site supervisors and tradespeople who require a more professional look than a basic hi-vis vest while working outdoors.

Practical Advice
This hoodie is designed with a regular fit to accommodate standard sizing from S to 3XL. When choosing your size, consider what you will be wearing underneath; if you plan to use this as a top layer over a thick sweatshirt, you may find that moving up one size provides better mobility. The drawcord on the hood is particularly useful for securing the garment when working in high-wind exposed areas.
Caring for your product
To maintain the high-visibility performance and water-repellent nature of the fabric, this garment should be washed at a maximum temperature of 40°C on a synthetic cycle. High temperatures can damage the reflective glass beads within the tape, significantly reducing visibility over time.
Do not use biological washing powders or bleach. These chemicals are too abrasive for the fluorescent dyes and will cause the safety colours to fade, eventually rendering the garment non-compliant with safety standards.
Avoid the use of a tumble dryer, iron, or wringing the garment out. Excessive heat and mechanical strain will cause the polyester to lose its shape and may lead to the reflective tapes peeling away from the fabric. Instead, use a short spin and allow the hoodie to air dry. Please note that the garment is rated for a maximum of 25 wash cycles to ensure it remains within its certified safety parameters.
