Product Overview
The Yoko Hi-vis Kensington hooded gilet is a sophisticated solution for professionals who require a balance of high-visibility safety and weather protection. Designed with a quilted aesthetic that transitions easily from the site to leisure environments, this garment provides significant warmth without the bulk of a full jacket. It combines a showerproof outer shell with a soft-touch finish, ensuring that you remain dry and comfortable during intermittent weather. For those working in regulated environments, the Yellow and Orange variants provide high-level safety compliance, while the Navy option offers a professional look for areas where enhanced visibility is preferred but not strictly mandated.
Key Features
- Certified Safety Standards: The Yellow and Orange versions conform to EN ISO 20471: 2013 Class 2, ensuring you are visible in high-risk environments.
- Rail Industry Compliance: The Orange variant meets RIS-3279-TOM standards, making it an essential requirement for railway personnel.
- Thermal Insulation: A fleece-lined hood with elastication and a padded fleece lining provide consistent warmth in colder conditions.
- Strategic Storage: Features a zipped chest pocket, two hand-warmer inset pockets with zip closures, and a large internal patch pocket for secure equipment storage.
- Enhanced Visibility: Beyond the standard V-shaped reflective tapes, additional reflective piping around the armholes and bottom hem ensures 360-degree visibility in low-light conditions.
Design & Performance
Engineered from a quilted polyester shell, this gilet is a substantial garment that offers a sturdy feel without restricting movement. The fabric is specifically chosen for its showerproof properties, allowing water to bead off the surface rather than saturating the insulation. The inclusion of a fleece-lined hood and internal padding ensures that heat is retained close to the body, making it a reliable mid or outer layer during the autumn and winter months. The V-shaped reflective tape design is not only a functional safety feature but also provides a more modern, tailored appearance compared to traditional horizontal bands.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
The Yoko Kensington gilet is an excellent candidate for customisation. We recommend embroidery for a superior, professional finish, particularly for corporate logos and staff names on the chest. The quilted nature of the fabric provides a stable base for high-density stitching. For larger back designs or bold promotional messaging, print is a highly effective alternative. Crucially, this garment features a concealed zip at the inner bottom, specifically designed to allow our Telford-based production team access to the fabric without compromising the internal lining. This ensures your branding is applied with precision and a clean finish on the inside.
Use Cases
This gilet is ideally suited for site managers, surveyors, and delivery drivers who are frequently in and out of vehicles and require core warmth and visibility. The Orange version is mandatory for those operating on or near the UK rail network. Its smart appearance also makes it a popular choice for event staff and security personnel who need to remain visible while maintaining a professional corporate image.

Practical Advice
The gilet is designed to be worn over other garments, such as hoodies or sweatshirts. If you intend to wear it over heavy knitwear or a thick work jacket, you may wish to consider the generous size range, which extends from Small to 3XL. Ensure the reflective piping is kept clean to maintain its performance in dark conditions.
Caring for your product
To maintain the performance and safety certifications of this gilet, it is vital to follow the specific care instructions provided. A standard domestic wash at a maximum of 40°C is recommended. Exceeding this temperature can damage the synthetic fibres and reduce the effectiveness of the showerproof coating.
Bleaching agents must be avoided at all costs. Bleach will degrade the fluorescent pigments in the fabric, quickly rendering the high-visibility elements non-compliant with safety standards. Similarly, the garment should not be dry cleaned, as the chemicals used can strip the reflective properties from the tape.
Do not tumble dry, wring, or iron this gilet. High heat from an iron or dryer will melt the polyester shell and destroy the adhesive bond of the reflective tapes. We recommend hanging the garment to air dry. Please note that this garment has a maximum limit of 25 wash cycles to ensure the reflective materials remain within the specified safety tolerances.
