Product Overview

The Towel City Kids Poncho is a thoughtfully designed accessory for young swimmers and outdoor enthusiasts. Engineered from luxury microfibre towelling, this garment serves as a portable changing room and a highly efficient drying tool in one. Its poncho-style silhouette allows for quick changes after a dip in the pool or sea, while the integrated hood provides immediate warmth and moisture absorption for the head and hair. This is not merely a towel; it is a well-engineered piece of functional apparel that combines convenience with superior drying performance.

Key Features
  • Microfibre Towelling: The lightweight fabric offers exceptional absorbency, ensuring the wearer dries quickly without the bulk of traditional heavy cotton.
  • Three-Piece Hood: This construction provides a more ergonomic fit around the head, ensuring the hood stays in place to provide warmth and drying coverage.
  • Kangaroo Front Pocket: Includes an internal phone pocket, providing a secure space for essentials while keeping hands warm.
  • Side Vents: These allow for a greater range of motion, making it easier for children to move freely or sit comfortably while drying off.
  • Set-in Sleeves: Offers a more structured and comfortable fit than a standard flat poncho, ensuring the garment moves with the wearer.

Design & Performance

Constructed from 100% polyester microfibre, this poncho is designed for performance. Microfibre is known for its incredible surface area, which allows it to trap and hold moisture far more effectively than standard fabrics. Despite its impressive absorbency, the material remains lightweight, making it easy for children to carry in a swim bag without adding unnecessary weight. The inclusion of side vents is a deliberate design choice to prevent the garment from feeling restrictive, which is particularly important when kids are active on the beach or poolside.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

This item is suitable for both print and embroidery, allowing you to create a professional look for swim clubs, schools, or holiday groups. Embroidery is the ideal choice for adding names or club crests, providing a durable and high-quality finish that withstands frequent use and washing. For those seeking larger, more vibrant designs, our printing process offers a bold visual impact that remains sharp. Every customisation project is handled by our expert in-house team in Telford, drawing on decades of experience since our establishment in 1976 to ensure your branding is executed to the highest standard.

Use Cases

This poncho is the essential equipment for any child involved in swimming lessons, competitive gala events, or water sports like surfing and paddleboarding. It is also an excellent choice for family holidays, providing a modest way to change on a busy beach. Beyond the water, it serves as a comfortable cover-up for home use after bath time.

Practical Advice

This poncho is designed with a generous fit to facilitate easy changing underneath the garment. When selecting a size, refer to our age-based guide which ranges from 3/5 years up to 10/13 years. If the child is at the top of an age bracket and requires more room for changing, we recommend opting for the next size up to ensure maximum comfort and coverage.

Caring for your product

To maintain the high-performance absorbency of the microfibre, we recommend a synthetic wash at 40°C. This temperature is sufficient to remove salt, chlorine, and dirt without degrading the polyester fibres. Using a colour-sensitive detergent will help maintain the vibrancy of the fabric over time.

It is vital to avoid using fabric conditioner. Conditioners coat the microfibre in a waxy layer, which significantly reduces the fabric's ability to absorb water, effectively rendering the towel less efficient. Additionally, do not bleach this garment, as this will weaken the fibres and cause premature thinning.

This poncho should be air-dried only; do not tumble dry or iron. High heat from a tumble dryer or a domestic iron can melt the fine synthetic microfibres, causing the fabric to lose its soft texture and absorbency. For the best results, wash with similar colours to prevent any dye transfer.
