Russell Athletic Outdoor fleece gilet

Product Overview

The Russell Europe Outdoor fleece gilet is a sophisticated layering solution designed for professionals who require warmth without the restriction of sleeves. This heavy-weight gilet is crafted from a compact fleece material that provides a smooth surface for a refined finish, moving away from the bulky appearance often associated with standard fleece garments. The panelled construction ensures a modern, tailored fit that remains comfortable throughout a demanding workday, making it an excellent choice for both outdoor site visits and indoor warehouse environments.

Key Features

• Cadet collar: This high-standing collar provides essential protection against wind and drafts, ensuring the wearer remains warm in exposed conditions.

• Side pockets with reversed zips: These pockets offer secure storage for tools or personal items, while the inner mesh lining helps to reduce bulk and improve breathability.

• Cord pulls on all zips: These allow for easy operation of the zips even when wearing gloves, providing practical functionality in cold weather.

• Bungee cord in hem: This adjustable feature allows the wearer to create a custom fit, sealing in body heat and preventing the garment from riding up during physical activity.

Design & Performance

Constructed from 100% polyester anti-pill fleece, this gilet is engineered for durability. The anti-pill treatment is a technical necessity for workwear; it prevents the fabric from forming small bobbles after friction and washing, ensuring the garment maintains a professional appearance over time. The dense, heavy-weight nature of the fabric provides excellent thermal insulation, trapping air to keep the core warm. Despite its thermal efficiency, the panelled design ensures that the gilet follows the contours of the body, allowing for a full range of motion which is critical for manual tasks.

Customisation: Embroidery Only

Due to the textured pile and density of this heavy-weight fleece, it is suitable for embroidery only. Traditional print methods cannot achieve a stable or aesthetic bond with fleece fibres, whereas embroidery creates a permanent, high-quality finish that integrates directly into the fabric. Our Telford-based embroidery team, which has been honing its craft since 1976, uses industrial-grade machinery to ensure your company logo is rendered with precision. The result is a professional, three-dimensional stitch that will last as long as the garment itself.

Use Cases

This gilet is perfectly suited for tradespeople, delivery drivers, and site managers who frequently move between different environments. It provides the necessary core warmth for outdoor work while remaining breathable enough for indoor use. Its professional appearance also makes it a popular choice for corporate uniforms where a smart yet functional outer layer is required.

Practical Advice

This gilet features a modern, compact fit. If you intend to wear it over a thick sweatshirt or multiple layers, we recommend checking the sizing guide carefully, as you may prefer to size up for additional room. The bungee cord hem is particularly useful for those who prefer a more tapered fit at the waist to keep out the cold.

Caring for your product

To maintain the thermal performance and the anti-pill finish of your gilet, proper care is essential. We recommend a domestic wash at 40°C. Washing at this temperature effectively removes dirt and sweat while protecting the integrity of the polyester fibres and the embroidered logo.

This product is suitable for tumble drying, though we suggest using a low-heat setting. High heat can cause synthetic fibres to become brittle or shrink, which may lead to the embroidery puckering. By following these guidelines, you ensure that the fabric remains soft and the branding remains crisp for the duration of the garment's life.
