Product Overview

The Snood Cap is a precision-engineered headwear solution designed to meet the rigorous hygiene standards of the modern catering and food production environment. Unlike standard caps, this garment incorporates a dedicated snood to ensure comprehensive hair coverage, which is a fundamental requirement for food safety compliance. Its clean, professional appearance in classic white makes it an essential component of a uniform for those operating in kitchens, bakeries, or processing plants where maintaining a sterile workspace is paramount.

Key Features

  • Integrated Back Neck Snood: This feature provides excellent hair containment, significantly reducing the risk of contamination in food preparation areas.
  • Elasticated Back: The inclusion of an elasticated section ensures a secure yet comfortable fit for all-day wear, accommodating various head sizes without the need for constant adjustment.
  • Kingsmill Cotton Construction: Utilising a high-quality cotton fabric, this cap offers natural breathability and comfort during long shifts in warm kitchen environments.
  • Contrast MeshAir Panelling: The polyester mesh allows for enhanced ventilation, helping to regulate temperature and keep the wearer cool when things get busy.

Design & Performance

The performance of this Snood Cap is rooted in its choice of materials. We use Kingsmill Cotton, which is crafted from long staple fibres. These fibres are specifically chosen for their inherent strength and resistance to pilling, ensuring the cap maintains its smooth, professional finish even after repeated use. The fabric is also fully pre-shrunk, meaning you won't be surprised by a change in fit after its first journey through the laundry.

The inclusion of MeshAir polyester mesh provides a technical advantage in temperature-controlled environments. By allowing air to circulate around the head, it prevents the build-up of moisture and heat, which is essential for staff comfort during intense periods of service. This is a sturdy, well-constructed garment designed for the daily demands of the professional food industry.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

Even a functional item like a snood cap can be an effective branding tool. This garment is suitable for both print and embroidery, allowing you to align your team's appearance with your brand identity. For a sophisticated, durable finish, we recommend embroidery for company logos or staff names. The dense weave of the Kingsmill Cotton provides an excellent stable base for high-quality stitching.

If you require a more prominent or vibrant design, our printing services are an ideal choice. All customisation is handled in-house by our expert team in Telford, who have been perfecting workwear branding since 1976. This ensures your logos are applied with the precision and durability required for a kitchen environment.

Use Cases

This cap is specifically tailored for professions where food hygiene is the top priority. It is an ideal choice for bakers, butchers, and industrial food processing workers. It is also well-suited for back-of-house staff in hotels, bars, and restaurants where a uniform standard of hygiene and presentation is required.

Practical Advice

The elasticated back makes this a versatile one-size-fits-all option, but ensure the snood is properly tucked under the collar of your tunic or chef's jacket for maximum hair containment. When ordering for a large team, consider that white garments will show stains more readily in a kitchen environment, so having a rotation of several caps per staff member is a sensible approach.

Caring for your product

To maintain the hygienic standards and structural integrity of this cap, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C. This temperature is sufficient to remove most food-based oils and bacteria without causing excessive wear to the cotton fibres.

Avoid the use of bleach, as this will weaken the natural cotton fibres over time and may damage the mesh sections. For the same reason, we advise against tumble drying; instead, allow the cap to air dry naturally to prevent any unnecessary shrinkage and to protect the elastic components.

If you wish to maintain a crisp appearance, you may iron the cap at a maximum temperature of 150°C. For particularly stubborn stains acquired in a professional kitchen, this garment is also suitable for professional dry cleaning using Tetrachloroethene.
