Product Overview

The Single Webbing 1.8m Lanyard With Shock Absorber is an essential component for any professional working at height, designed specifically for fall arrest applications. Measuring 180cm in total length including connectors, this lanyard provides a necessary buffer between the worker and the anchor point. It integrates a dedicated energy absorber to mitigate the forces transferred to the body in the event of a fall, ensuring that safety is the primary priority when working on scaffolding or elevated platforms.

Key Features

  • Integrated Energy Absorber: This component is designed to deploy during a fall, significantly reducing the impact force to safer levels for the user.
  • Heat-Treated Alloy Steel Scaffold Hook: The self-locking hook allows for secure, one-handed attachment to various anchor points, providing peace of mind during movement.
  • Durable Polyester Webbing: The webbing is constructed to withstand the rigours of industrial environments, offering high tensile strength and resistance to abrasion.
  • Aluminium Carabiner: Included for secure attachment to the user's harness, ensuring a reliable connection throughout the working day.
  • Generous 180cm Length: Provides the necessary reach for efficient movement across a workspace while maintaining strict safety parameters.

Design & Performance

The construction of this lanyard reflects a focus on durability and mechanical integrity. The primary strap is crafted from high-grade polyester webbing, chosen for its resilience against environmental wear. The hardware is equally substantial; the heat-treated alloy steel used for the scaffold hook ensures the mechanism remains reliable even under significant stress. Although the lanyard feels substantial and sturdy in the hand, the inclusion of aluminium components helps to balance the overall weight, preventing unnecessary fatigue for the wearer. The Royal Blue finish provides high visibility of the equipment itself, making it easier for safety officers to verify that personnel are correctly tethered.

Why No Customisation?

At MyWorkwear, we take safety seriously. This lanyard is a life-critical piece of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). We do not offer customisation, printing, or embroidery on this item because any modification to the webbing or the energy absorber could compromise the structural integrity and safety certification of the product. Applying heat or stitching through these materials could lead to catastrophic failure under load, and as such, this item is sold strictly as-is to ensure it performs exactly as intended by the manufacturer.

Use Cases

This fall arrest lanyard is designed for tradespeople and contractors operating in high-risk environments. It is particularly suited for scaffolders, steel erectors, and construction workers who require a secure tether while moving between fixed points. It should always be used in conjunction with a full-body harness and a suitable anchor point as part of a comprehensive fall protection system.

Why MyWorkwear

Since 1976, MyWorkwear has been supplying the UK workforce with reliable, high-quality gear from our base in Telford. We understand that in the world of height safety, there is no room for error. We select our fall protection range based on technical merit and compliance with safety standards, ensuring that when you purchase from us, you are receiving equipment backed by decades of industrial expertise.

Practical Advice

Before every use, perform a thorough visual inspection of the entire length of the polyester webbing for any signs of fraying, cuts, or chemical damage. Ensure that the self-locking mechanism on the scaffold hook and the carabiner gates operate smoothly and click into the locked position without hesitation. If the energy absorber shows any sign of deployment or if the lanyard has been involved in a fall, it must be removed from service immediately and replaced.

Caring for your product

To maintain the performance and longevity of your lanyard, it is vital to keep the webbing clean. We recommend wiping the straps with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution to remove dirt or grit. Allowing debris to build up within the fibres can cause internal abrasion over time, which may weaken the webbing's structure.

Avoid exposing the lanyard to harsh chemicals, solvents, or direct heat sources, as these can degrade the polyester and the PVC elements. After cleaning, always allow the lanyard to air dry naturally away from direct sunlight; ultraviolet light is a known factor in the degradation of synthetic fibres, and excessive heat can make the materials brittle.

Store your equipment in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Keeping the lanyard in a cramped or damp environment can lead to the corrosion of the steel and aluminium hardware, which may interfere with the self-locking safety mechanisms.
