Product Overview

The FP30 Screwgate Carabiner is a fundamental component for any professional working at height. Constructed from heat-treated alloy steel, this silver oval connector is designed to provide a secure and reliable link within a fall protection system. With a substantial breaking load of 25kN, it offers the high level of safety required for demanding industrial environments where structural integrity is non-negotiable.

Key Features

  • Screwgate Locking Mechanism: The manual screw lock provides a secure closure, ensuring the gate remains shut during use and preventing accidental detachment.
  • Heat-Treated Alloy Steel: This material choice ensures exceptional durability and strength-to-weight performance, allowing the carabiner to withstand significant forces.
  • Oval Design: The symmetrical shape helps to centralise loads and prevents the connector from shifting awkwardly when attached to pulleys or other hardware.
  • 19mm Opening: A generous gate clearance allows for easy attachment to various anchor points and lanyard ends, facilitating smoother transitions while working.
  • Certified Safety: Fully compliant with EN 362:2004 Class B, providing peace of mind that the product meets stringent European safety standards for connectors.

Design & Performance

Engineered for professional use, the FP30 measures 106mm in length, making it a substantial and sturdy piece of hardware. The use of alloy steel that has undergone heat treatment ensures that the carabiner maintains its shape and performance even under high-stress conditions. In practice, the smooth operation of the screwgate allows for one-handed operation (with practice), while the silver finish makes it easy to inspect for any signs of surface wear or contamination.

Why No Customisation?

We do not offer customisation services such as engraving or printing on this product. As a critical piece of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for height safety, any modification to the surface could potentially compromise the structural integrity of the steel or obscure essential safety markings and certification stamps. Safety remains our primary concern.

Use Cases

This carabiner is intended for use in fall protection and height safety applications. It is an essential item for scaffolders, steel erectors, and arborists. It is equally suited for rescue operations or as a primary connector in fall arrest and work positioning systems where a secure, screw-locking interface is preferred over a twist-lock alternative.

Practical Advice

Before every use, you should perform a visual inspection to ensure the gate closes and locks fully. It is good practice to ensure the screwgate is always tightened downwards to prevent vibration from loosening the barrel. When building your safety kit, ensure all components, including lanyards and harnesses, are compatible with a 19mm gate opening.

Caring for your product

To maintain the performance and longevity of your carabiner, it is vital to keep the mechanism clean and free from grit or debris. A buildup of dirt can lead to the gate sticking, which poses a significant safety risk during operation.

We recommend cleaning the carabiner with a damp cloth and mild detergent if it becomes soiled. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents, as these can damage the protective finish of the steel and potentially lead to corrosion over time.

After cleaning or exposure to wet conditions, ensure the carabiner is dried thoroughly in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat. Proper drying prevents the onset of rust, which could weaken the structure and necessitate the immediate withdrawal of the item from service.

Periodically, a very small amount of dry lubricant can be applied to the gate hinge and screw thread to ensure smooth operation. Always wipe away any excess lubricant to prevent it from attracting further dirt.
