Product Overview

The D100 PP Disposable Mob Cap is an essential component for any workplace where hygiene and contamination control are paramount. Supplied in a substantial pack of 3000, these caps are designed to provide a reliable barrier in sensitive environments while remaining comfortable for the wearer throughout their shift. Each cap is pleated, allowing for efficient, space-saving storage before use, and is rendered in a high-visibility blue that is standard across the food industry to ensure easy detection.

Key Features
  • Pleated Design: This specific construction allows for the mob caps to be stored compactly, ensuring you can maintain a high volume of stock without occupying excessive warehouse or cupboard space.
  • Elasticated Headband: The integrated elastic ensures a secure and snug fit for various head sizes, preventing the cap from slipping and maintaining a consistent hygiene barrier.
  • Double Stitching: Unlike standard disposable headwear, the D100 features durable double stitching which enhances the structural integrity of the cap and reduces the risk of accidental tearing during application.
  • Spun Polypropylene: The use of 100% spun polypropylene provides a lightweight and breathable feel, which is critical for staff comfort during long hours in laboratories or food processing plants.

Design & Performance

The D100 is manufactured from a lightweight spun polypropylene fabric. This material is chosen for its ability to provide a breathable yet effective barrier against hair and skin particulate shed. Despite its lightweight nature, the fabric is surprisingly resilient, and the inclusion of double-stitched seams ensures that the cap remains intact even when stretched over larger hairstyles or protective headgear.

In terms of performance, the elasticated headband is designed to be gentle on the skin to prevent irritation, yet firm enough to stay in place during physical activity. The pleated nature of the cap is not just for storage; it allows the cap to expand fully to cover the entire hairline, which is a critical requirement in food handling and laboratory environments.

Why No Customisation?

This item is sold as-is without the option for customisation. Because these mob caps are intended for single use and high-frequency disposal, the application of embroidery or print is neither practical nor hygienic. Furthermore, the lightweight, non-woven structure of the polypropylene is not designed to support the weight or puncture-density of embroidery, and adding such elements would compromise the protective barrier the cap provides.

Use Cases

These mob caps are a staple for businesses operating in food processing, handling, and professional laboratory work. However, their utility extends to any trade where cleanliness is required. They are frequently used by electricians, plumbers, and mechanics when working in sensitive domestic or commercial environments to prevent hair shed, and even by tree surgeons or other trades as a hygienic layer beneath shared safety helmets.

Practical Advice

When donning the mob cap, ensure that all hair is tucked within the elasticated perimeter. For those with longer hair, we recommend securing the hair in a low bun before fitting the cap to ensure the pleated fabric can expand evenly and provide full coverage. Always store the boxes in a dry, cool area to maintain the elasticity of the headbands over time.

Caring for your product

Maintaining the integrity of disposable PPE is about correct storage and usage rather than cleaning. These caps are strictly single-use items. To maintain the highest standards of hygiene and contamination control, they must be disposed of after each shift or whenever the wearer leaves the clean zone. Reusing a disposable cap is not recommended as it poses a significant cross-contamination risk.

You should never attempt to wash or launder these mob caps. The spun polypropylene material is not designed to withstand the mechanical action or heat of a washing machine. Such processes will cause the fibres to separate and the elastic to perish, rendering the cap useless for its intended purpose.

Keep the caps in their original packaging until they are ready for use. This protects them from environmental dust and moisture, ensuring that when a staff member reaches for a cap, it is as clean and effective as the day it was manufactured.
