Product Overview

The Portwest PS30 Over-Safety Glasses are a precision-engineered solution for professionals who require high-level eye protection without compromising the use of their own prescription eyewear. These spectacles are designed to fit comfortably over most standard glasses, providing a seamless protective barrier in hazardous environments. With a focus on peripheral vision and user comfort, they ensure that safety does not come at the expense of visibility or long-term wearability.

Key Features

  • Wide Panoramic Lens: The expansive lens design provides an unobstructed field of vision, allowing for better situational awareness on busy worksites.

  • Integrated Side Shields and Brow Guard: Moulded directly into the frame, these shields offer comprehensive protection against flying particles and debris from multiple angles.

  • Adjustable and Extendable Arms: The customisable arm length ensures a secure fit for various head shapes, preventing the glasses from slipping during intensive tasks.

  • Lightweight Construction: Despite their robust appearance, these glasses are exceptionally light, reducing pressure on the bridge of the nose and behind the ears during extended shifts.

Design & Performance

Constructed with a high-impact polycarbonate lens and durable nylon arms, the PS30 is built to withstand the rigours of a professional workshop or construction site. The clear polycarbonate material is chosen for its superior strength-to-weight ratio and excellent optical clarity. The design specifically addresses the common issue of interference between safety equipment and prescription frames, using a spacious internal geometry that accommodates your existing eyewear without causing pinching or misalignment.

Why No Customisation?

We do not offer customisation on the Portwest PS30 Over-Safety Glasses to ensure the structural integrity and safety certifications of the product remain uncompromised. Applying heat-pressed logos or mechanical embroidery to the polycarbonate or nylon frame could introduce micro-fractures or obscure the wearer's field of vision, which is unacceptable for certified Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Use Cases

These over-safety glasses are a versatile choice for a wide range of trades. They are particularly well-suited for carpenters, electricians, and mechanics who require precise vision while protected from dust and sparks. They are also frequently used in aviation, chemical handling, and general construction environments where eye safety is a non-negotiable requirement.

Practical Advice

When selecting these for use with prescription eyewear, ensure your existing frames are not excessively oversized. To achieve the best fit, extend the adjustable arms fully before putting them on, then retract them until the glasses feel secure against your face. This will ensure the brow guard sits correctly to prevent debris from entering from above.

Caring for your product

To maintain the performance of your safety glasses, you must keep the lenses free from scratches and build-up. We recommend cleaning the polycarbonate surfaces with a dedicated lens cleaning solution or mild soapy water and a soft microfibre cloth. Using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals can degrade the lens coating and impair your vision over time.

When not in use, store the glasses in a protective pouch or case. Leaving them loose in a tool bag or on a dashboard can lead to surface damage, which may eventually necessitate replacement to ensure continued safety and clarity.
