Product Overview
The Oak Chainsaw Bib and Brace is a specialized piece of protective equipment meticulously engineered for the demanding environments of the forestry and arboriculture sectors. Safety is paramount when operating heavy machinery, and this garment addresses that need by incorporating nine layers of protection specifically within the front of each leg. Despite this high level of safety engineering, the design remains lightweight and focused on wearer mobility, ensuring that those working in the field can move freely and comfortably throughout long shifts.
Key Features
- Nine-layer protective barrier: Specifically positioned at the front of the legs to provide a critical safety shield for chainsaw operators.
- Kingsmill Polycotton construction: A high-performance blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton that balances rugged durability with daily comfort.
- Breathable and moisture-wicking: The fabric technology efficiently moves moisture away from the body, keeping the wearer cool during intensive physical labour.
- Water-resistant finish: Provides an essential layer of protection against light rain and damp woodland conditions, maintaining a dry internal environment.
- Pre-shrunk fabric: Ensures the garment retains its intended fit and shape after repeated domestic washing.
Design & Performance
Constructed from a medium-weight Kingsmill™ fabric, this bib and brace is built to endure the abrasive nature of outdoor work. The fabric choice is notable for its superior dye retention, which prevents the black colour from fading, maintaining a sharp and professional appearance even after heavy use. Inside, the lining—a blend of polyester and polypropylene—works in tandem with the outer shell to regulate temperature, preventing the build-up of heat often associated with multi-layered safety garments. The substantial nature of the protection does not come at the cost of mobility; the design is tailored to allow for the climbing and crouching required in modern forestry work.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
Ensuring your team looks professional while staying safe is straightforward with our customisation options. This item is perfectly suited for both print and embroidery. Embroidery is an excellent choice for company logos or staff names, offering a high-quality, durable finish that can withstand the rigours of the field. For larger, more prominent branding on the bib or back, our printing services provide a bold and clear result. All customisation is performed by our expert in-house team in Telford, drawing on decades of experience since our establishment in 1976.

Practical Advice
When selecting your size, consider the layers you will be wearing beneath the bib and brace. Since forestry work is seasonal, choosing a fit that allows for thermal base layers while still permitting a full range of movement in the legs is recommended. If you find yourself between sizes, we suggest opting for the larger size to ensure the multi-layered protection does not feel restrictive when climbing.
Caring for your product
To maintain the protective performance and the integrity of the water-resistant finish, it is vital to adhere to the specified care instructions. Proper maintenance ensures that the safety features remain reliable over the life of the garment.
We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C. Using higher temperatures can damage the synthetic fibres and potentially degrade the internal protective layers that are critical for chainsaw safety.
Do not use bleach when cleaning this garment. Bleach is highly corrosive to technical fabrics and will compromise the strength of the Kingsmill material and its protective qualities.
This item should be drip line dried only. Using a tumble dryer introduces high heat that can cause the internal protective layers to warp or shrink, which would significantly reduce the effectiveness of the leg protection.
If ironing is necessary, use a cool setting with a maximum temperature of 110°C. Excessive heat can damage the fabric's structure and the internal polypropylene lining.
Do not dry clean this garment. The chemicals used in dry cleaning processes can negatively affect the breathability and protective characteristics of the specialized fabrics.
