Product Overview

The PW261 Hi-Vis Winter Jacket is a precision-engineered piece of outerwear designed to provide essential protection against the dual hazards of low visibility and extreme cold. Built from a substantial 300D waterproof fabric with a dynamic design, this jacket ensures that the wearer remains dry, warm, and visible in the most demanding work environments. The combination of fluorescent orange fabric and strategically placed retroreflective tape meets stringent safety requirements while offering a professional aesthetic that suits modern workforce needs.

Key Features

  • Waterproof 300D Oxford Fabric: The heavy-duty outer shell is double PU coated, providing a formidable barrier against heavy rain and moisture to keep you dry throughout the shift.
  • Stain Resistant Finish: A specialised coating helps repel oil and dirt, ensuring the jacket maintains its high-visibility properties and professional appearance for longer.
  • Retroreflective Tape: High-quality reflective strips are designed to catch and return light, ensuring the wearer is clearly visible to vehicle operators and colleagues in low-light conditions.
  • Insulated Filling: The internal polyester filling provides significant warmth without excessive bulk, making it an essential layer for winter outdoor work.
  • Taffeta Lining: The smooth 190T polyester lining allows the jacket to glide easily over mid-layers, preventing the uncomfortable bunching of clothes during movement.

Design & Performance

The performance of the PW261 is rooted in its material composition. The use of 300D Oxford weave polyester provides exceptional durability and resistance to abrasions, which is vital for site-based work where snags are a daily occurrence. The double PU coating is not merely a surface treatment; it is a deep-seated layer that ensures water remains on the outside of the garment.

Internally, the jacket features a zoned insulation approach, with a more substantial filling in the body and a slightly lighter weight in the sleeves. This careful balancing act ensures core warmth is maintained while allowing for the range of motion required for manual tasks. The dynamic design moves with the wearer, reducing the restrictive 'boxiness' often associated with traditional winter workwear.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

This jacket is well-suited for both print and embroidery customisation, though each method offers distinct benefits for this specific garment. Embroidery provides a raised, high-quality finish that is exceptionally durable, making it the preferred choice for company logos and staff names where a long-lasting, 'proper' professional look is required.

Print is an excellent alternative for larger back designs or when you require bold, sharp graphics that need to stand out from a distance. Our in-house team in Telford has been perfecting these techniques since 1976, ensuring that your branding is applied with technical precision to maintain the garment's integrity and safety certifications.

Use Cases

This jacket is specifically designed for professionals working in high-risk environments during the autumn and winter months. It is ideal for construction site managers, highway maintenance crews, and logistics personnel who spend extended periods outdoors in cold, wet weather. The high-visibility orange and black contrast design is particularly effective in environments where dirt is prevalent, as the darker panels are placed in areas most prone to soiling.

Practical Advice

As this is an insulated winter jacket, we recommend considering your layering system. While the jacket is generously sized to accommodate a sweatshirt or fleece, it is designed for a contemporary fit. If you work in particularly static roles, you may find the insulation sufficient with just a base layer, whereas active users will find the breathable nature of the lining prevents overheating during physical exertion.

Caring for your product

To maintain the high-visibility performance and waterproof integrity of this garment, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum of 40°C using a mild process. Exceeding this temperature can damage the PU coating and reduce the effectiveness of the stain-resistant finish.

Do not use bleach on this garment, as it will degrade the fluorescent dyes and significantly reduce the visibility levels. For drying, we advise a drip line dry only; do not tumble dry, as the heat can cause the retroreflective tape to crack or peel. Similarly, this jacket must not be ironed, as direct heat will melt the synthetic fibres and waterproof membrane.

Please note that this garment has a maximum limit of 50 washes. After this point, the retroreflective properties may fall below the required safety standards, and the jacket should be replaced to ensure continued protection on the job.
