Product Overview

The RT32 Hi-Vis Winter Bomber Jacket is a technical solution engineered for professionals who require high-level visibility alongside significant thermal protection. Designed to meet the rigorous demands of the UK rail industry and outdoor construction sites, this jacket provides a robust barrier against harsh winter conditions. It combines a heavy-duty outer shell with a fully padded interior to ensure the wearer remains warm and protected without restricting the movement necessary for manual tasks.

Key Features

  • RIS 3279 certification ensures the garment meets the specific safety standards required for working on or near UK railways.

  • The 300D Oxford weave polyester shell is exceptionally hard-wearing, providing superior resistance to the abrasions and tears common in industrial environments.

  • A double PU coating offers a high degree of water resistance, keeping the wearer dry during prolonged exposure to wet weather.

  • The stain-resistant finish helps repel dirt and oils, ensuring the high-visibility orange fabric maintains its effectiveness for longer.

  • Full padding and lining offer essential insulation, capturing body heat to maintain comfort during cold-weather shifts.

Design & Performance

This substantial bomber jacket is constructed from 100% polyester 300D Oxford fabric, a material chosen for its density and durability. The weave is designed to withstand the daily stresses of workwear, while the double PU coating provides a technical shield against moisture penetration. Inside, the jacket features a medium-weight polyester filling and lining, which provides excellent warmth-to-weight performance. The garment's design focuses on practicality, with a fit that allows for agility and reach, ensuring that safety equipment never hinders performance on the job.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

The RT32 is well-suited for both print and embroidery, allowing you to align your team's safety gear with your corporate identity. For a professional and permanent finish, we recommend embroidery for chest logos or staff names. The dense Oxford weave provides a stable base for high-quality stitching that remains crisp through many wash cycles.

If you require large, high-impact branding on the back of the jacket, heat-applied print is the ideal choice. This method ensures your logo is highly visible from a distance without adding bulk to the garment. Our in-house team in Telford has been managing these processes since 1976, ensuring that your branding is applied with the precision and expertise that your business deserves.

Use Cases

This jacket is primarily designed for the rail sector, but it is equally effective for civil engineering, groundworks, and any outdoor role where RIS 3279 compliance is a requirement. It is the essential choice for winter operations where both conspicuous visibility and protection from the cold are non-negotiable.

Practical Advice

This jacket is designed with a generous cut to facilitate layering over jumpers or sweatshirts. When choosing your size, consider the bulk of your mid-layers. To ensure the jacket performs as intended, we recommend keeping the front zip fully closed to trap heat and ensure the reflective bands are correctly positioned for maximum visibility.

Caring for your product

To preserve the life of the high-visibility pigments and the integrity of the PU coating, following the care instructions is vital. Proper maintenance ensures that the safety features of the jacket remain within certified standards for as long as possible.

We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum of 40°C using a mild process. Excessive heat or aggressive cycles will break down the stain-resistant finish and damage the reflective tape. This garment is rated for a maximum of 50 washes; once this limit is reached, the high-visibility properties may no longer meet the required safety specifications.

Do not use bleach, as this will cause the orange colour to fade and render the garment unsafe for use. The jacket should not be tumble dried, as the heat can distort the synthetic padding; instead, please use drip line drying. Do not iron the jacket, as the high temperature of an iron will melt the PU coating and damage the polyester fibres. Finally, do not dry clean, as the industrial chemicals involved are too harsh for the technical coatings of this garment.
