Product Overview

The DX4 Hi-Vis Rain Jacket represents a significant step forward in technical workwear design. Combining a modern, dynamic aesthetic with superior stretch breathable fabric, this shell jacket is engineered for those who require high-visibility protection without compromising on agility or comfort. It is a highly capable piece of equipment, designed to withstand the rigours of outdoor work while maintaining a professional appearance, regardless of how much the British weather tries to intervene.

Key Features

  • HiVisTexPro heat-applied reflective tape: This innovative segmented tape allows for greater freedom of movement compared to traditional solid tapes, ensuring you remain visible and flexible on site.
  • Texpel Splash Eco water-resistant finish: This environmentally friendly treatment encourages water to bead off the fabric surface, keeping the garment cleaner for longer and protecting against light stains.
  • Articulated sleeves: Pre-shaped arms provide a superior fit and reduce the effort required for overhead movements, which is essential during long, physically demanding shifts.
  • Polyester Mesh lining: This lightweight inner layer improves airflow and moisture management, preventing that uncomfortable sensation often associated with non-breathable waterproofs.

Design & Performance

Constructed from Portwest Extreme fabric, this jacket features a sturdy stretch outer shell paired with a PU membrane. This technical combination ensures the garment is both waterproof and breathable, facilitating moisture vapour escape while preventing water ingress. The lightweight nature of the fabric makes it ideal for high-activity roles where heavy, restrictive layers would be a hindrance.

The durability is enhanced by the quality of the weave, providing a substantial barrier against the elements. The addition of stretch within the polyester allows the jacket to move with the wearer, reducing strain on seams and extending the lifespan of the garment under demanding conditions. The articulated design ensures that as you move, the jacket moves with you, rather than against you.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

The DX4 Rain Jacket is an excellent canvas for your corporate identity. For a superior finish and a high-quality appearance, we recommend embroidery. This method is particularly effective for company logos or staff names, providing a durable, professional look that withstands frequent laundering. Our Telford-based team has been perfecting this craft since 1976, ensuring every stitch is precise.

Alternatively, if your branding requires a larger, more vibrant display—perhaps a bold logo on the rear of the jacket—print is an ideal choice. Our modern printing techniques ensure that large designs remain sharp and clear without compromising the jacket's technical properties. Both options are handled in-house to maintain our strict quality standards.

Use Cases

This jacket is ideally suited for professionals working in construction, logistics, or any environment requiring high-visibility compliance. The lightweight construction makes it a perfect outer shell for site managers and tradespeople who move frequently between vehicles and outdoor environments. Its breathable nature is particularly beneficial for those engaged in physical labour during inclement weather.

Practical Advice

As this is a shell jacket, it is designed to be worn as an outer layer. For colder environments, we suggest layering it over a medium-weight fleece or thermal base layer to provide insulation while the jacket handles wind and rain protection. Please consider your layering requirements when selecting your size to ensure a comfortable fit that allows for full range of motion.

Caring for your product

To maintain the high-visibility performance and technical properties of this jacket, it is essential to follow the care instructions provided. A domestic wash at 40°C using a mild process is recommended to remove dirt without damaging the PU membrane or reflective tape. Failing to clean the garment can lead to dirt clogging the breathable membrane, reducing its effectiveness.

Bleaching must be avoided at all costs, as it will degrade the polyester fibres and diminish the fluorescent properties of the fabric. Similarly, the jacket should not be tumble dried; instead, we recommend drip line drying. Excessive heat from a tumble dryer or iron can damage the heat-applied reflective tape and the water-resistant finish, potentially causing them to peel or lose reflectivity.

Finally, please note that the garment is rated for a maximum of 25 washes. Exceeding this limit may reduce the effectiveness of the high-visibility elements, meaning the jacket may no longer meet the required safety standards. Dry cleaning is also not permitted, as the chemicals used can strip away the technical waterproof coatings.
