Product Overview

The Chem 600 Latex Heavyweight Gauntlet is a specialist item of personal protective equipment designed for individuals working in demanding industrial environments. At 44cm in length, this gauntlet provides significant coverage, extending well past the wrist to protect the forearm from splashes and mechanical hazards. Constructed from high-grade natural rubber latex, it offers a robust barrier that does not compromise on the wearer's ability to handle tools and materials effectively.

Key Features
  • Substantial protection: The thick latex construction ensures a high level of defence against a variety of industrial chemicals and liquids.
  • Excellent abrasion resistance: Engineered to withstand the rigours of handling abrasive materials like cement and ceramic tiles, ensuring a longer product lifespan.
  • Extended 44cm length: The generous length provides vital forearm protection, reducing the risk of skin contact with hazardous substances during pouring or mixing tasks.
  • Heavyweight construction: At 1.1mm thick, the material provides a substantial physical barrier against punctures and tears without losing necessary flexibility.

Design & Performance

This gauntlet is engineered for durability. The black latex is substantial and sturdy, specifically designed to resist the wear and tear associated with heavy industrial labour. The performance of the latex remains consistent even when exposed to damp or alkaline conditions, providing a reliable grip when handling wet or slippery components. The interior is designed to be smooth, allowing for ease of donning and doffing between tasks.

Why No Customisation?

At MyWorkwear, we prioritising your safety. This gauntlet is classified as high-performance PPE designed to provide a liquid-tight barrier. Any form of customisation, such as embroidery or heat-applied printing, would involve piercing the material or applying heat that could degrade the latex. This would compromise the chemical and mechanical resistance of the product, rendering it unsafe for its intended purpose. Therefore, we supply these gauntlets as-is to ensure the manufacturer's safety ratings remain intact.

Use Cases

This product is ideally suited for professionals operating within the chemical, cement, ceramic, and tile industries. It is equally valuable for industrial cleaning, waste management, or any application where hands and forearms are likely to come into contact with aggressive agents or abrasive debris.

Practical Advice

When selecting your size, ensure the gauntlet fits comfortably across the palm to maintain dexterity; a fit that is too tight may cause the material to stretch and thin over the knuckles. It is prudent to inspect the gauntlets before every shift for any signs of cracking or pinholes, as even a minor breach can lead to chemical exposure.

Caring for your product

Maintaining the integrity of your latex gauntlets is essential for ongoing safety. After each use, especially when handling chemicals or cement, rinse the exterior with clean water to remove any residues that could degrade the material over time. Failure to remove caustic substances can lead to the latex becoming brittle and prone to premature failure.

Store the gauntlets in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and ozone sources. Prolonged exposure to UV light can cause the latex to perish and lose its elasticity. Do not attempt to machine wash or tumble dry these gauntlets, as the mechanical action and high temperatures will damage the structural integrity of the rubber.
