Product Overview
The Base Fortrex T-Rex Mid is a formidable addition to any professional’s wardrobe, engineered for those who require more than just a standard safety boot. This S3S-rated ankle shoe, part of the specialist Fortrex range, is built to withstand demanding industrial environments where the ground underfoot is as unpredictable as the British weather. Crafted with water-resistant Nabutek leather and a sophisticated multi-component sole, it offers a high level of protection without sacrificing the wearer’s comfort during long shifts.
Key Features
SlimCap Protective Toe-Cap: This lightweight toe-cap is resistant to 200 joules of impact, providing essential protection against falling objects while maintaining a slimmer profile than traditional steel caps.
Fortrex Puncture Resistance: The patented Fortrex system ensures that the sole is resistant to sharp objects, protecting the underside of the foot in hazardous environments.
SmellStop Antibacterial Lining: An integrated lining that prevents the growth of bacteria and fungi, keeping the footwear fresh and hygienic even after extensive use.
Temperature Regulation (CI & HI): Designed with both cold insulation (down to -17°C) and heat insulation (up to 150°C), ensuring your feet remain at a comfortable temperature regardless of the external conditions.
Heat Resistant Outsole (HRO): The rubber outsole can withstand contact heat up to 300°C for one minute, making it suitable for high-temperature work surfaces.
Design & Performance
The T-Rex Mid is constructed with a focus on durability and ergonomic support. The upper is made from Nabutek leather, which is treated for water resistance to ensure your feet remain dry in damp conditions. Inside, the combination of the SmellStop lining and the Dry’n Air footbed promotes constant air circulation, reducing moisture build-up and improving overall foot health.
Performance is further enhanced by the Fortrex sole, which combines PU for cushioning and rubber for exceptional grip and slip resistance (SR). This substantial, sturdy boot also features shock absorption in the heel region to reduce fatigue when walking on hard surfaces, while the hydrocarbon-resistant properties ensure the sole remains intact when exposed to oils and fuels.
Why No Customisation?
We do not offer customisation services such as embroidery or heat-seal transfers on the T-Rex Mid ankle shoe. This is a technical piece of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); altering the leather upper could compromise its water-resistant properties and potentially invalidate the safety certifications (EN ISO 20345:2022). To ensure your safety and the longevity of the product, we provide it exactly as specified by the manufacturer.
Use Cases
This footwear is ideally suited for heavy industrial roles, construction sites, and civil engineering projects where high-level protection and temperature insulation are required. It is an excellent choice for workers operating in extreme climates or on sites where there is a high risk of puncture or heat exposure.

Practical Advice
The T-Rex Mid is designed in a men’s width to accommodate a broader foot shape. When choosing your size, consider the thickness of the socks you intend to wear; technical work socks can provide additional cushioning and moisture-wicking properties that complement the boot’s internal lining.
Caring for your product
Maintaining your safety boots is essential for ensuring they continue to provide the necessary protection and remain comfortable over time.
To clean the Nabutek leather, allow any mud to dry naturally before brushing it off with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using direct heat sources like radiators to dry the boots, as this can cause the leather to crack and become brittle, significantly reducing its lifespan and water resistance.
We recommend removing the Dry’n Air footbed periodically to allow it to air out. This helps maintain the efficacy of the SmellStop antibacterial lining and prevents the build-up of odours. For the rubber outsoles, ensure they are kept free of debris to maintain their slip-resistant properties and prevent premature wear from trapped stones or grit.
