Product Overview
The Sydney S1PS ESD from the Run@Work collection is a sophisticated safety shoe designed for the modern professional who requires the agility of a trainer without sacrificing industrial-grade protection. This lightweight shoe is engineered with a technical fabric upper and a metal-free SlimCap, offering a streamlined profile for those who spend long shifts on their feet. Certified to EN ISO 20345:2022 standards, it integrates advanced anti-fatigue technology with essential safety features like puncture resistance and electrostatic discharge protection.
Key Features
- SmellStop Antibacterial Lining: This hi-tech 3D fabric lining prevents the proliferation of microorganisms, which helps to eliminate bad odours and maintain a healthy environment for your feet.
- SlimCap Metal-Free Toe-Cap: At just 6.5mm thick, this toe-cap is lighter and more comfortable than traditional steel versions while still providing 200 joules of impact resistance.
- AirTech+Tpu-Skin Anti-Fatigue Sole: A technical outsole with reduced tread thickness that provides superior elasticity and a continuous cushioning effect to reduce foot strain.
- Fresh'n Flex Plus Super Light Insert: An ultralight, non-metallic midsole that is resistant to perforation, protecting you from sharp objects underfoot.
- ESD Protection: Designed to protect electronic devices from electrostatic discharges, making it suitable for sensitive technical environments.
- HIFLAP Technology: Features two independent flaps that facilitate natural movement and provide enhanced stability in various working positions.
Design & Performance
The Sydney is built for high-performance movement. The technical fabric upper is not only durable but works in conjunction with the Dry'n Air Comfort Cub3 system to provide maximum breathability and lightness. The TPU scuff cap is strategically placed to protect the shoe during high-impact tasks, extending the life of your footwear. Underneath, the sole is designed with a ladder grip for secure footing on rungs and is resistant to hydrocarbons, ensuring the integrity of the shoe in diverse industrial settings. Despite its protective capabilities, the shoe remains remarkably flexible, moving with the foot rather than against it.
Why No Customisation?
We do not offer customisation on safety footwear such as the Sydney work shoe. The integrity of safety equipment is paramount; any aftermarket alterations, such as embroidery or heat-applied logos, could compromise the technical fabric or the safety certifications of the shoe. To ensure you remain fully protected and compliant with workplace safety regulations, we provide these shoes in their original, tested condition.
Use Cases
The Sydney is an excellent choice for workers in electronics manufacturing, logistics, and light industry. Its ESD properties make it essential for those handling sensitive components, while the metal-free construction is ideal for environments with security scanners. Furthermore, being vegan-friendly, it caters to professionals seeking ethical footwear choices without compromising on safety standards.
Why MyWorkwear
MyWorkwear has been a cornerstone of the UK workwear industry since 1976. Based in Telford, we have spent decades refining our expertise to ensure that the products we supply meet the rigorous demands of the modern workforce. We don't just sell shoes; we provide technical solutions backed by nearly half a century of experience in the trade.
Practical Advice
The Sydney is designed with specific fits for both men and women, with the men's version featuring a wider profile (Width 12) and the women's version a more narrow fit (Width 10.5). For the best experience, we recommend wearing high-quality synthetic or wool-blend socks; cotton can retain moisture, which may negate the benefits of the breathable Dry'n Air technology and the SmellStop lining.
Caring for your product
Proper maintenance is vital to ensure your safety shoes continue to protect you effectively over time. We recommend cleaning the technical fabric upper with a soft brush or damp cloth to remove dust and grit. If dirt is allowed to build up, it can act as an abrasive, prematurely wearing down the fibres and reducing the shoe's lifespan.
Should your shoes become wet, always allow them to air dry naturally in a well-ventilated space. Never place them directly on a radiator or near a forced heat source, as extreme heat can cause the TPU materials and adhesives to become brittle and fail. Regularly checking the tread for trapped debris will also help maintain the slip-resistant properties of the sole.
