Product Overview

The Nimbus Maine pleasantly padded gilet is a sophisticated example of modern outerwear that refuses to compromise on environmental responsibility. Inspired by contemporary urban fashion, this lightweight bodywarmer offers a streamlined silhouette that works equally well as a primary outer layer or a strategic insulating piece beneath a heavier coat. Utilising advanced recycled materials and specialised bio-based padding, it provides efficient warmth without the bulk often associated with traditional padded garments.

Key Features
  • Recycled Pongee Fabric: The outer shell and lining are constructed from 100% recycled polyester, repurposed from plastic bottles and textile waste, providing a durable and sustainable solution for the eco-conscious professional.
  • Bionic Finish ECO: This high-performance, water-repellent impregnation ensures that light rain beads off the surface, keeping the wearer dry and comfortable in unpredictable British weather.
  • Sorona Aura Insulation: This technical padding is crafted from a blend of bio-based and recycled materials, offering superior thermal retention while remaining breathable and lightweight.
  • Secure Zip Pockets: Both the side pockets and the internal pocket feature reliable zip closures, ensuring that essential tools, phones, and personal items remain safe and accessible throughout the working day.

Design & Performance

Engineered for comfort, the Maine gilet features a recycled pongee outer fabric that provides a smooth, professional finish while standing up to the rigours of daily wear. The interior is filled with a sophisticated insulation blend of Sorona Aura and Recycled Sugenro. Because 30% of the insulation is bio-based, it offers a more sustainable alternative to traditional synthetic fills without sacrificing heat retention. The lightweight construction ensures the wearer maintains a full range of motion, which is vital for active roles or navigating a busy urban environment. Furthermore, the garment is backed by Amfori BSCI and Reach accreditations, confirming that it meets high social and environmental standards during production.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

The smooth surface of the recycled pongee fabric makes this gilet an excellent candidate for customisation. For those seeking a professional and permanent branding solution, our Telford-based embroidery team can apply high-density logos and staff names with precision. Embroidery is particularly recommended for corporate environments where a tactile, premium finish is required.

Alternatively, the Maine gilet is well-suited for various printing techniques. Printing is an ideal choice for larger, more vibrant designs that need to stand out. At MyWorkwear, we have been perfecting our customisation processes since 1976, ensuring that your branding is applied with the technical expertise your business deserves.

Use Cases

This gilet is perfectly suited for corporate teams, site managers, and professionals who require a polished appearance alongside practical weather protection. Its urban-inspired design makes it equally appropriate for customer-facing roles and outdoor site visits. It serves as an excellent layering piece for those working in fluctuating temperatures, such as warehouses or transport hubs.

Practical Advice

The Maine gilet features a versatile fit ranging from Small to 3XL. Given its lightweight padding, it is designed to be worn over shirts or sweatshirts without feeling restrictive. If you intend to wear it over heavy knitwear or multiple layers, you may wish to consider the measurements provided in our size guide to ensure a comfortable fit across the chest.

Caring for your product

To maintain the performance and professional appearance of this gilet, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C on a normal process. Regular washing at the correct temperature ensures that the water-repellent finish and custom branding remain intact over time.

Do not use bleach, as this will degrade the recycled polyester fibres and damage the integrity of the insulation. The garment should not be ironed; the heat can melt the technical outer fabric and compress the padding, permanently reducing its thermal efficiency. Similarly, do not tumble dry or dry clean this item, as these processes can alter the shape and finish of the gilet. Instead, allow it to air dry naturally to preserve its structural performance.
