Product Overview
The Fruit of the Loom Premium hooded sweatshirt is a staple of professional workwear, engineered to provide a balance of comfort and structural integrity. Constructed from a medium-weight 70% cotton and 30% polyester blend, this garment is designed for those who require a dependable layer that stands up to the rigours of daily use. The standout feature is the 100% cotton face, which provides an exceptionally smooth surface for customisation, ensuring that whether you choose embroidery or print, the finish remains sharp and professional.
Key Features
- Double-Fabric Hood: The dual-layered construction of the hood provides extra warmth and ensures it maintains its shape, avoiding the flimsy appearance often found in lower-quality alternatives.
- Self-Coloured Flat Drawcord: Provides a cohesive, streamlined look that is less likely to snag than round cords during active work tasks.
- Cotton/Elastane Ribbed Waist and Cuffs: The addition of elastane to the ribbing ensures that the sweatshirt retains its fit and prevents sagging at the extremities after repeated washing and wear.
- Front Pouch Pocket: A practical inclusion for keeping hands warm or storing essential items while on the move.
- Single Jersey Back Neck Tape: This internal detail provides additional comfort against the skin and reinforces the neckline to prevent stretching.
Design & Performance
This sweatshirt is a substantial garment that offers a soft, fleece-like interior for warmth without feeling overly bulky. The 70/30 fabric composition is a deliberate choice for performance; the high cotton content ensures breathability and a natural feel, while the polyester provides the necessary tensile strength to prevent the garment from losing its form. The ring-spun cotton face is particularly noteworthy for its density, which acts as a superior canvas for branding, ensuring that logos do not 'sink' into the weave.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
The SS824 is a versatile garment for branding. For a more traditional and corporate appearance, we recommend embroidery. It is particularly effective for breast-pocket logos or individual names, providing a textured, high-quality finish that lasts the lifetime of the sweatshirt.
Alternatively, the 100% cotton face makes this an ideal candidate for printing. Whether you require large back designs for event wear or bold promotional graphics, the smooth surface allows for precise ink adhesion and vibrant colour reproduction. All customisations are handled by our expert in-house team in Telford, drawing on nearly five decades of experience since our founding in 1976.
Use Cases
Given its professional finish and comfort, this hoodie is highly suited for trade professionals working in temperate environments, as well as for tourism, event staff, and leisure industry uniforms. Its broad size range, reaching up to 4XL, makes it an excellent choice for outfitting diverse teams with a unified look.

Practical Advice
This sweatshirt is a standard fit. If you intend to wear it over multiple layers or prefer a more generous feel for physical labour, you may wish to consider sizing up. The cotton/elastane cuffs are designed to be snug, which is beneficial for safety as it prevents sleeves from trailing into machinery or workspaces.
Caring for your product
To maintain the structural integrity and professional appearance of your sweatshirt, we recommend a machine wash at 40°C. Washing at this temperature effectively removes work-related dirt while protecting the fibres and the adhesive used in many print processes.
Do not use bleach. Chlorine-based cleaners will aggressively strip the dye from the fabric and can cause irreversible damage to your embroidered or printed company logo.
For drying, use a low tumble dry setting. High heat can lead to excessive shrinkage, particularly in garments with a high cotton content, and may cause the ribbed cuffs to lose their elasticity.
When ironing, use a low heat setting (one dot). It is vital to avoid ironing directly over any printed areas, as the heat will melt the design. We suggest ironing the garment inside out to protect both the fabric face and the customisation.
Do not dry clean this garment. The harsh chemicals used in the dry cleaning process can degrade the fabric blend and are generally unnecessary for maintaining this type of workwear.
