West Mercia Search and Rescue are the official lowland Rescue unit for the West Mercia Police area, who operate as part of the UK’s rescue structure. The team at West Mercia Search and Rescue are a group of incredible volunteers who risk their lives to save people in need.

Covering Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire, the team at West Mercia Search and Rescue assist the fire and police services in searching for missing people, rescue from floods, rivers and other waterways and provide care to anyone whose life is in danger.

Even though we started working closely with the team at West Mercia Search & Rescue officially in the summer of 2024, they have actually been placing individual orders prior to that, going back a number of years, as they had seen our previous work with UWR (University of Wolverhampton Racing).

We spoke with James Small, Assets Manager for West Mercia Search & Rescue, who explained ‘I had been aware of MyWorkwear for some time. There is now much more of a personal connection however, where we recently carried out a search for a vulnerable person who was a relation of a staff member of MyWorkwear. The resulting conversations resulted in the great working relationship we now have with MyWorkwear.’

After this, our partnership with their team flourished. With over 80 volunteers, their team needed to find a way of simplifying their workwear ordering process.

West Mercia Search & Rescue currently order their workwear through our workwear portal. Where they have been able to choose a variety of garments in specific colourways, with their logos already added. So that their volunteers can go onto this portal and choose directly from their uniform selection.

Secondly, we have assisted the West Mercia Search & Rescue team create a line of merchandise that they can sell on to help with their fundraising.

We currently have two main lines with MyWorkwear; a team site where our team members can order the kit they need and a line of support gear, where members of the public can order team merchandise directly and MyWorkwear fulfils these orders directly and provides us with some revenue from the sales.

The format of ordering directly from an online portal has made this gear so much more accessible to the team. All interactions with MyWorkwear have been brilliant, they have been incredibly friendly, helpful and professional throughout the entire process. We have been really happy with the range of products and the quality of the customisations.
